Life Treasure Hunt

I have been on a Treasure Hunt for over 40 years to find the perfect diet for me. Most worked if I stuck to them like they were my religion. But they were all unlivable for the long term. I did learn a lot about myself and how my body works; it was an illuminating journey of discovering my dieting parameters and dropping the pass or fail mindset.

Data comes courtesy of a new survey conducted by One Poll  https://www.studyfinds.org/food-fads-the-average-adult-will-try-126-different-diets-during-their-life/ and commissioned by Love Fresh Berries.

Self-Improvement

I was too focused on the dieting daily worrying I will eat the wrong thing like no dairy, no gluten, no sugar, no carbs etc. I was fearful of what to eat and lost the purpose of eating. Nutrition and enjoying a meal with friends and family. The joy was zapped by all the “DO NOT DO THIS diet structure rules”. I began to feel guilt regarding every choice of what to eat unless it was a green vegetable! This was no way to live, but I had to have food to live. I felt like I had an addiction but I had to keep it literally to stay alive.

Dieting makes me feel trapped by all the “NOs”! This book helped me a lot, Eat what you love, Love what you eat Click here “Eat what you love, Love what you eat”. helped me get over the “NOs”

“Our fatigue is often caused not by work, but by worry, frustration and resentment.”

Dale Carnegie

“There is a great difference between worry and concern. A worried person sees a problem, and a concerned person solves a problem.”

Harold Stephen

“The first step to getting what you want is having the courage to get rid of what you don’t.”

Zig Zigler

I stopped worrying about what I should or shouldn’t eat per what diet books were saying and set out to identify the problems I wanted solved. Not so much to be thin, but stop aching, have more energy, not think about eating all the time and nourish my body to feel good.

The book that helped me figure out what to eat for my body to feel Great is “The Plan“.

I told myself to be sensible and listen to my body cravings not my habit cravings, and this became my main goal, sounds too easy. If you believe in God or not the following advice is very sensible:

Matt 6:24-28

24 No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

(I had allowed my ‘master’ to be all the rules I gleaned from what I thought were diet experts.)

25 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than cloths?

26 Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?…

27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

28 And why do you worry about clothes? Consider how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor or spin.

“Worry often gives a small thing a big shadow.”

Swedish Proverb

“Rule number one is, don’t sweat the small stuff. Rule number two is, it’s all small stuff.”

Robert Eliot

Perspective Challenge

Figure out you, don’t grab a diet rule book.  Give yourself at least a month to do to figure out what you need to eat to be healthy and feel good. ‘The Plan’ book is not a diet rule book instead it helped me figure out me and my own body chemistry. The book, ‘The Plan’ helped me learn how to listen to my body, check it out and if you have read a book that helps you listen better to what your body needs for nutrition let me know.  If you want to know what I figured out about what works for my body go CLICK HERE for my story.

Why not change perspective, make my own rules and do what makes me thrive and be happy?

There are many other religions that have dietary rules. If you are a part of another religion other than Jewish or Christian I urge you to investigate why those rules are in place for your culture.
